a) Training for Junior Residents in Internal Medicine
b) Training for MSc Psychiatric Nursing and PhD in Psychiatric Nursing
c) Short Term Training for 1-3 months in specific areas of Clinical Psychiatry, General Psychiatry and Psychiatric specialities
The training programme is rigorous, structured, balanced, and consistent throughout the residency period (details given below).
The training programme endeavours to give a general and comprehensive exposure to psychiatry. General objective of the training programme is to enable the candidate to acquire knowledge, skills and desirable attitudes in the principles and practice of psychiatry and gain a particular proficiency in the widely accepted theories and techniques.
It is anticipated that our graduates will later assume responsible teaching, training, research and administrative positions in psychiatric centres in India. For this reason they are extensively exposed to other services, answering family physician's referral letters, being administrative in-charge of out-patient and in-patient units and, taking part in monthly administrative meetings etc.
